Die erste Crew aus Kiel und Leipzig ist wieder in Idomeni an der griechisch-mazedonischen Grenze Idomeni vor Ort.
Die Lage für die Flüchtenden ist absolut schrecklich. Zur Zeit befinden sich ca. 16.000 Menschen im Grenzcamp in Idomeni, ca. 2000 an der Tankstelle 20km vor der Grenze in Polykastro und ca. 700 in den umliegenden Gebieten und Wäldern. Über ganz Griechenland verteilt sind es mittlerweile ca. 34.000 Flüchtende, dessen Weiterreise in eine sichere Zukunft verhindert wird. Die Menschen im vollkommen überfüllten Grenzcamp leben zumeist in kleinen Zelten. Heute regnete es den ganzen Tag. Das Camp versinkt im Schlamm und die meisten Zelte sind durchnässt. Auch ist es wieder kälter geworden. Seit den Protesten der Flüchtenden an der Grenze und dem darauf folgenden Tränengaseinsatz von Seiten der mazedonischen Grenzbeamten letzte Woche gibt es keine Versorgung mit Klamotten mehr.
Seit heute Nacht um 0Uhr sind die Grenzen nach Slowenien, Kroatien und Serbien geschlossen. Nicht einmal mehr die zuvor noch legal durchreisenden Menschen aus Syrien und dem Irak dürfen passieren, sondern nur noch Menschen mit EU-Visa. Gestern (8.3.) konnten noch 132 Menschen aus Syrien und dem Irak nach Mazedonien einreisen. Heute folgte Mazedonien der Verschärfung durch die anderen Transitländer und schloss ebenfalls die Grenze für alle Flüchtenden.
Wir sind wieder eingestiegen in den Support der illegalisierten Menschen in den umliegenden Wäldern und versorgen diese täglich mit Essen, Kleidung und anderem. Seit einigen Monaten machten die Menschen sich zumeist von dort aus zu Fuß auf den Weg durch Mazedonien. Im Dezember und Januar konnten wir viele Fälle dokumentieren, in denen Personen anschließend in Mazedonien von Polizei oder Mafia aufgegriffen, ausgeraubt, verprügelt und nach Griechenland zurück gepusht wurden. Diese Situation hat sich nochmals stark verschärft. Mittlerweile werden die mazedonischen Polizisten von solchen aus anderen Ländern unterstützt und die Polizeipräsenz im gesamten mazedonischen Grenzgebiet hat massiv zugenommen. Zudem müssen die Menschen es nun nicht „nur“ schaffen Mazedonien „illegal“ zur durchqueren, sondern auch die darauffolgenden Länder (Serbien, Kroatien, Slowenien). Dies hat zur Folge, dass viele Menschen schon seit langer Zeit in den Wäldern ausharren und sich unserem Eindruck nach nur noch wenige von dort aus auf den immer unmöglicher werdenden Weg durch Mazedonien machen.
Es gibt viele Spekulationen über Alternativrouten. Gerade ist es allerdings sehr schwierig hilfreiche Informationen zu bekommen, um die Menschen zu unterstützen selbstbestimmt ihre Flucht fortsetzen zu können.
Zudem helfen wir der seit einiger Zeit hier aktiven Küfa (=Küche für alle) „Aid Delivery Mission“ (http://aiddeliverymission.org/) beim Kochen von täglich ca. 10.000 Portionen. Hier sind momentan ca. 60 Aktivist*innen und Volunteers involviert. Ohne diese stünden alle Flüchtenden, die aus politischem Kalkül her in der Region feststecken gänzlich ohne eine warme Mahlzeit da. Die Verantwortlichen nehmen diese Situation scheinbar billigend in Kauf.

The first crew from Kiel and Leipzig arrived back in Idomeni at the border between Greece and Macedonia.
The current situation of refugees in Idomeni is absolutely terrifying. At the moment, approximately 16.000 people hold out in the border camp in Idomeni. At the gas in Plykastro ca. 2000 and in the surrounding woods ca. 700 refugees hold out. There are probably around 34.000 refugees, who have to wait and hold out, in Greece.
Refugees in the totally overcrowded border camp in Idomeni have to stay in small tents. Today, it was raining the whole day. The camp drowns in mud and most of the tents are wet. Moreover, it got colder again. Since the protests of refugees and the following usage of tear gas by Macedonian border control in the last week, there has been no supply with clothes.
Since midnight, the borders to Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia are closed. Not even those refugees from Syria and Iraq, who could pass in a legal process earlier, can pass now. Only people having an EU-Visa are allowed to pass. Yesterday (8.3.), 132 People from Syria and Iraq were allowed to enter Macedonia. Today, Macedonia followed the other countries involved into the Transit of Refugees and closed the border for all refugees.
We moved back into the support of illegalized humans in the surrounding woods and organize a daily supply with food, clothes and more. Since a couple of months, more and more people went on through Macedonia by foot. We were able to document a lot of cases in which refugees were picked up, robbed, battered and pushed back to Greece by Macedonian police forces or the mafia. This situation has become even worse. Macedonian police forces are supported by forces from different other countries and the presence of police in the whole Macedonian border area has increased rapidly. Furthermore, it is not only Macedonia that has to be crossed illegally, moreover, the following countries on the route (Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia) have to be crossed as well. Subsequently, more and more people hold out in the woods for a longer time and according to our experiences less people move on the risky way through Mcedonia.
There are a lot of speculations concerning alternative routes. But, at the moment it is quite difficult to get helpful information on that to support the refugees on there self determined flight.
Moreover, we help in the „Aid Delivery Mission“ (http://aiddeliverymission.org/), which provides food for around 10.000 people here. This project is working here for a while and approximately 60 volunteers and activists are involved. Without this project all refugees, who have to hold out because of political calculations, would not be prepared with any warm meal. Obviously, the responsible politicians approve this situation.
